Heather&Joe’s Wedding!

February 13, 2010

It’s not very often that you get to shoot a bride and groom at the top of Vail mountain in the middle of ski season! Heather and Joe were such a great couple who were enthusiastic about their photos and gave me tons of time to play. I had such a great time with them and their friends and family. On top of having a great couple, I was so happy to have my great friend and very talented photographer, Frances Marron of Frances Photography with me for the day. It makes for such a great wedding when you have a couple that gives you creative freedom and a fabulous friend and photographer with you to enjoy it. Thanks so much to Heather, Joe, and Frances!

Before the ceremony we had a chance to walk around the cute little town of Vail Village and get some great shots. 520590

What a sweet couple! Out first attempt at this shoot got snowed out, so by the time we finally got to get together, I was determined to conquer this cold winter that we’ve had and have fun and get some great photos. Red Rocks was a little muddy and dreary, but after the shoot and experiencing how cute this couple is, I’m convinced I could have gotten great photos of them no matter where we were! I loved their cute coats and sweet smiles, and Andreas BEAUTIFUL blue eyes. I can’t wait for this wedding!

Dane Sanders Workshop!

December 15, 2009

Last weekend I had the privilege of attending Dane Sanders’ workshop in Boulder. Since the workshop, I’ve had friends ask me how it was, and the only response I seem to be able to muster is, “I don’t have words to describe how it was”. When I became involved in this industry one of the first things I realized and came to love about it, is the amazing network of people and sense of togetherness that is lacking from so many parts of our society. I am so honored to be a part of such an amazing community of people. It is rare to find an industry where peers do not view each other as competition, and people are there for each other. The Dane Sanders workshop exemplifies everything that I love about being part of this community. On top of that, just being in the same room as Dane and having access to his unique perspective on life is an experience all in its own. To spend a weekend with a such a group of supportive people, facilitated by one of the kindest most unique people I’ve ever met, was an amazing experience. The “business” part of the workshop focused on many things including: viewing your business from different perspectives, marketing, organizational skills, utilizing the tools available to photographers and so much more. For a brief period on the first day we had a few models and because a blog post should have at least one photo, I’ve posted one of my favorites below. However, the shooting aspect of the workshop is not what I brought away from it. Like I said before, I can’t really describe what I did- I’ll just tell you it was amazing. If you have a chance to go to one of these- PLEASE do so!

Sharon&Phil’s Engagement

November 22, 2009

I am so happy to be able to post these photos which have a lot of personal meaning to me. Years ago when I lived in Boston, Sharon and I were roomates and became close friends. Soon after getting to know her I realized that she is one of the most giving, considerate, and generous people I know. She always has other people’s best interest in mind, and never stops giving to those in her life. After moving away, many of  my friendships slowly died with  people I use to spend time with in Boston. As life usually goes, the only friendships that remain from my days there are with the people that I am truly honored to call my friends, and who continually create positive experiences in my life. Sharon is definitely one of these people. It has been great getting to know Phil over the past couple years, and it is hard to explain how excited I was to hear that they got enganged, and how honored I am to be involved in their wedding as the photographer. As luck would have it I was in Boston a couple weeks ago to shoot a wedding, so it was perfect timing to do Sharon and Phil’s engagement shoot! Here are a few of my favorites. I love you guys!57

After we were sufficiently cold from being outside we headed back to their apartment for a few more photos. Phil wanted to shoot some with his Grandfather’s pipe and I loved the idea. The photos definitley have a Vanity Fair feel to them.1013

And of course I couldn’t leave without getting a few pictures of their puppy Nigel. He has such a funny personality and loves to cuddle! 545510064
